A compilation of essays on St. Francis’s Document on Solitude(sometimes called “A Rule for Hermitages”), the brief document, barely a page in length, that he wrote some 800 years ago as a direction for his brothers who were spending time in prayer in places of solitude and silence.

This volume explores a variety of contemporary experiences of such a spiritual practice among people – religious and lay, men and women – who find in this little piece of writing an inspiration for their own spiritual journey.
