Mad Hatter is a literary raspberry black tea blend inspired by the Mad Hatter, created for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.

The Mad Hatter in Lewis Carrol’s world was a wild character who was a very fashionable dresser for the times and wore a big hat with a card reading 10/6 (which was the cost of the hat). Now, doesn’t that remind you of the great Minnie Pearl! He held mad tea parties and

“Mad as a hatter” is an old English saying that describes someone suffering from insanity.. It happens to have been termed in the 1800’s when hat makers suffered from mercury poisoning, which made them mad. The Hatter was never really referred to as ‘mad’ by Lewis Carroll, but he definitely was eccentric. As you should be about this raspberry tea!

The Hatter was quite fond of his riddles, but Alice found the whole thing quite unsatisfactory. Obviously nobody explained to the Hatter that you can’t have a tea party without serving this insanely yummy tea, why that would be just ridiculous.

This blend uses a flavored raspberry black tea as a base and adds the raspberry goodness found in freeze dried raspberries with some mango added just to throw in a little twist on the flavor. The creaminess is due to the vanilla beans that are used to infuse the tea with that hint of vanilla and then removed just prior to packaging. Mad Frills is absolutely the hatter’s new fave when it is iced or cold brewed. Give it a try before your next tea party.
