Candied Orange Slices

These addictive sweet treats of orange peel slices slowly candied in sugar syrup are a delightful little addition to all manner of cooking.

Amifruit only selects particular varieties of fruits that have the right balance of natural sugars, then meticulously candies them in sugar syrup; the candying process naturally replaces the water within the fruit with sugar syrup. This is a traditional method of the South of France, and results in a preserved fruit with a great flavor, a beautiful glossy shine and pleasantly chewy texture.

Now, we wouldn’t count these a fruit serving per se, but our Candied Orange Slices are 100% natural and gluten-free. There are many ways in which you can impress guests with these citrusy delights: they can be used to garnish cocktails, particularly ones containing hints of ginger as that will enhance the natural flavor; for a more elaborate twist, dip them in melted chocolate and spruce up a hot chocolate – and why not add a splash of orange liqueur while you’re at it? For baking purposes, simply chop up and use as a topping for pound cake, cheesecake, mix in with scones or olive oil cake and really just about any baked good you want.
