This lime tea blend is inspired by Captain Wentworth, the hero in Jane Austen’s novel Persuasion. Like the brave and well-respected naval office, this blend is a brave tea blend that combines both black and green teas and puts the tart flavor front and center.

This blend contains standard lime leaves as well as Kaffir lime leaves for a wonderfully aromatic addition to this blend. Lime and lemon pieces, as well as natural lemon and lime flavoring, have also been added. Grapefruit peels add an extra bit of citrus boost to the profile and this blend also includes sweet lime pieces which are basically sugared apricots (contains glucose syrup, lemon juice, and lime flavoring). For this reason, please be aware and monitor your sugars if you have diabetes.

Limes are a great source of vitamin C, magnesium, and potassium. There are quite a few lemon-lime beverages, and many cocktails have lime added to them. However, lime tea is not very common at all, unless you are looking for a dessert tea reminiscent of key lime pie with that bit of tartness but overarching sweetness. This is not a key lime pie dessert tea. If you are a fan of Numi’s Desert Lime tea, this is similar but does not have the dry tartness that makes that tea popular.

This tea pairs well with a bit of honey. Try it cold-brewed and then add a splash of club soda for a real treat!
